Leslie Young is a farm wife from Franklin Parish. She tells us about growing up as a city girl and meeting her now farm husband while in college at Louisiana Tech. Starting off in the journalism industry, Leslie loves the life she lives in Small Town Louisiana, surrounded by agriculture. She tells us how she takes pride in having raised her children on a farm, and now getting to share that with her grandchildren.

On this episode, we meet a corn, cotton, rice, and soybean farmer from Northeast Louisiana. We discuss how he got started farming, how much his wife helps him around the farm, and how proud he is to do the job that he does as a farmer. We also talk about our Ag Leadership class and the trip we made to California to learn about agriculture outside of Louisiana.

Episode 2 - Robert & Rachel Duncan

Robert and Rachel live in Boyce, Louisiana. That’s where they farm soybeans, hay, and raise their cattle. They’ve had a tough spring planting their soybeans on their farm that’s flooded by Red River backwater. We discuss that struggle, but also how they’re finding new markets for their cattle and their plans to grow that part of their business.

Adam and Megan live in Gillam, LA. They raise cattle, own and operate a commercial hay farm, a trucking company, and a few more things to keep themselves moving all year round. They’re first generation farmers that are finding pretty creative ways to make a living and raise a family on the farm.
